The Throgs Neck, which connects Throgs Neck in the Bronx to Beechurst and Bayside in Queens, was named for John Throckmorton, who settled in the Bronx in 1643, said Frank Pascual, of the M.T.A. Bridges and Tunnels. “Throgs is a contraction and neck is a small point that juts out into the water,” he explained.
