Hire a professional appraiser to grade your coins and tell you how much it is worth. The American Society of Appraisers and International Society of Appraisers have searchable directories of professional appraisers. A dealer might also be able to help.
How much does it cost to get a coin appraised?
Many online appraisals are available for free, especially by auction houses looking to list your coins. These free appraisals are for valuation and selling purposes only. Formal written appraisals can range from $75 to over $150 per hour, depending on the coins, appraisal details, and purpose.
Is my old money worth anything?
Generally speaking, most modern-era Federal Reserve Notes (or paper currency made since the last silver certificates were issued in 1964) is worth very little over face value. For example, worn examples of old dollar bills from Series 1969, Series 1974, or Series 1977 are worth $1.50 to $3.
Do you need an appraisal for old currency?
Any and all national currency will need an exact appraisal based on which bank issued the note – so always contact us if you are in possession of national currency. All of our old currency appraisals are free. In many cases we can show you the page from the reference materials we use.
How to get an appraisal of a bank note?
If you wish to receive an evaluation for your banknote (s) then please mail a xerox copy to us along with payment in cash, check, cheque or a money order or an equivalent in your country’s currency. Please include $7.00 for a return postage (by Registered Mail) for your each package weighing under 50 grams (if original notes are sent).
Is it possible to get an appraisal for free?
There is no guarantee that a free appraisal will be provided to you in a timely manner or that it will be provided at all, but I will try to do my best. We do not appraise by phone!
How much is a piece of paper money worth?
Your collectible currency can be worth anywhere from $1 to $100,000 depending on condition, rarity, market value, and serial number. What kind of paper money do we buy? The short answer is everything. As long as it is genuine. We do not buy fake or facsimile paper money bills simply because they have no value to us or the market.
